Macy gives her first talk...well sort of!

video

All weekend we practiced and worked hard and had this talk down cold! Macy was so excited to give it! I had never seen such enthusiasm!!!! I was the total opposite and dreaded ever speaking in public as a child, I know, you could have never guessed I was ever shy and reserved!

We'll there we were in Primary and they call her name. She jumps right up to give it and then chickens out! I felt so bad for her. She was so scared and nervous and just couldn't hold up to the presser. And she had done it so many time at home and just before. I felt so bad for her. I just didn't want her to feel any of those feelings I so remembered as a little girl. Poor thing...

Enjoy the talk "at home!" She really impressed me with how fast she learned it!

For those of you wondering, no she is not reading. I drew out the words and she read the pictures. The concept really worked for her...up until she had to actually GIVE the talk!

Oh little cutie pie! I remember that feeling too. Here I am all grown up and I still feel like just sitting down when I am teaching!

Oh my goodness.. poor little thing. She was doing so good at home. Oh I wish I could have been there. This makes me miss you guys so much. I remember how nervous I was for her on her first day of Primary.. I checked in on her like 4 times, and now I am missing her talks. Ughg can't wait to see you guys in 7 days!

Loved that! Glad I am not the only one with a scared sunbeam! Ethan chickened out too... although he wasn't ever excited to give it, not even at home.

My favorite part in the talk is when she says "I can show love BYE"...

- did you rehearse saying "Bye" to someone to get her to know what that picture meant? It sounded like she was saying bye, not by. Love it!

Poor little Macy! The video of her is too cute though. You did a great job drawing out the pics to help her!! :) There is always next time...I hated speaking in front of people when I was younger...still do! :)

Thank is verrryyyyy clever. Macy did a great job. It is always best when we get to see here in California. Rebecca, what a clever way to help her.

I really appreciate your sharing this experience with the rest of us. I love your blogs. Keep up the great work.

so cute! It looks like she was very well rehearsed! What a great idea to draw the pictures for her to read!

I agree with Steph, the "BYE" part cracked me up! She is so cute!

You are so creative. I don't think I would have thought of drawing the pictures. I will have to do that next time! :)

Macy was so cute in the video. Maybe they should just let us tape them at home and then show the video in primary! :)

I will be using the picture drawing idea in the future for sure. Thanks for the great idea, and I am impressed with your artistic ability.
She is so cute and sweet. You must beam with pride when you watch this cute video. And yes, Luke will be in Kindergarden Fall of '09. Can you even imagine? I am so excited to watch them grow and become more independent and adventurous. Cant wait to continue the journey

Poor kid! I was the same way when I was little...still am in a lot of ways so I can relate! We luckily have never had this problem with Felicity...we just bribe her with an ice cream treat if she says it really well and it has worked great! Any fears she has are squelched by her desire to have ice cream later :o) Hopefully the next talk will go better!

Okay, I can totally relate to cute Macy!! My first time getting up in nursery was giving a scripture and I knew it frontwards and back. When I got on the stand, I decided I was too embarassed to say the word "yea" because as far as I was concerned it wasn't a word. The scripture I was giving said it about 4 times! I totally chickened out and Aaron Williamson read it for me instead! :( I think she'll do great the next time around.
